Invite Him in...

How you can know God as your Father through accepting Jesus Christ…

Do you know God? I’m not asking if you know about God, I want to know if you know Him. There’s a difference! You see, God wanted you and me to know Him, know how He loves us and that He wants to have a relationship with you.  He did this by sending His Son, Jesus Christ. Who is so much like Him that Jesus said, when you’ve seen Me, you’ve seen My Father God.  Jesus was sent by God for the sole purpose of making the Father known to us and to make it possible for us to have a relationship with Him.

No matter how bad it is for you, you can be changed by the power of God.  If you’ve come here and you’re looking for a change, I want you to know that God is ready and willing to help you - right now, wherever you are. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done in your life - it’s forgivable. It’s even forgettable. God loves you and He made a plan to pardon you of all guilt and shame - to wash away your sins and give you the life worth living.  God knows about everything that has brought you to this very moment, and He loves you. He understands your feelings and wants to help you to live a better life, but He isn’t pushy. He won’t force Himself upon you. God is waiting for you to be at the place where you are willing to recognize His plan, call out to Him and invite Him into your life.

What is His plan? God’s plan is to redeem mankind, which includes you, from sin through the sacrificial life and death of His only Son, Jesus. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”  God loved you so much, He wanted to give you His best and that’s why He sent Jesus.  Jesus died on the cross for the sins of the world.  There was no greater sacrifice to the Father God than to give up His only Son, Jesus.  It was hard for Him, but it was also right in His sight.  Through Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross and resurrection from the grave, mankind was given an opportunity to be redeemed from his or her sin. God tells us in His Word that sin must be paid for, and the only payment acceptable in God’s eyes is the blood of His only Son, Jesus Christ. When we accept Jesus as the Lord of our life and the payment for our sins, we are accepting God’s plan and God can then start working with us as we begin abiding or “walking” with Him. Our simple faith in His plan opens the door for our heart to change, and then our life can start changing too. God gave His best when He gave us Jesus Christ, and there is nothing else we can do to earn His grace. Jesus earned it for us.  He took our blame, shame and our sins.  He died and God brought Him back to life as He rose again three days later so that we might be free and clean in God’s sight.

Now, all you have to do is realize your need for God and accept that Jesus Christ's death and resurrection is God’s plan for your redemption - and go to Him in prayer. Romans 10:9-10 tells us, “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” Sometimes people make this difficult, but God has made it very simple.  All He asks is that you believe that Jesus took away your sins in your heart and confess His Lordship in your life with your mouth.  Together, these things, by God’s Spirit, bring about redemption. Together, they open the doorway so that you can be redeemed.

Are you ready to pray to God right now?  If so, take a moment to talk to God from your heart.  Let Him know that you want Him to be Lord of your life and that you believe that Jesus came to die for your sins too and that Father God raised Jesus from the dead after He died for your sins. Just be sincere, and you will receive salvation.

If you need help, here is a simple prayer, as a guide, that you can pray:

“Lord Jesus, I know that I need You.  I’ve done things my own way up until now and I realize that I need your love and forgiveness in my life. I believe that You died for my sins on the cross, and I ask you to forgive me of my sins. I don’t want to live the way I have been living. I want to turn away from this old life and live right before You. I am trusting in You and I am making a decision to follow You, Jesus. So, I ask You to come into my life and make a change in my heart right now. Thank you, Jesus.  Thank you for dying for me and for being there for me.  I accept You as my Lord and Savior! I accept that your Word is true and I will begin to follow You as Your disciple from this moment forward! Thank You for coming into my life. Thank You for receiving me into Your family, Father God!  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

If you just sincerely prayed this prayer with your heart believing and confessing Jesus as the Lord of your life with your mouth, you’ve done what the Bible says and you have been redeemed.   You’ve been adopted into the family of God and you can be confident that you will live eternally with God.  Starting from this very moment, you have changed.  Now your spirit, your heart, bears witness with God’s Spirit that you are now in the family of God, that you are a son or daughter of God. Though, salvation is not a matter of feeling; it’s a matter of faith.  If you’ve made the decision to serve Christ, now you can be assured that no matter what you’ve done in your life, your sin has been completely washed away to be remembered no more.

You have a clean slate now.  Ephesians 2:8-9 puts it this way, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God–not by works, so that no one can boast.”  This scripture proves that your salvation doesn’t depend on your strength or ability. It depends on the grace of God and your faith in Jesus’ work!   His blood is more than able to take care of your salvation! Never doubt this gift God has given to you as you follow Him and His ways.
